many of them patently essential for the job but so often seemingly implemented
as afterthoughts! From the very start we wanted to create a spacious and
flexible environment which, though multitrack-capable, was optimised for
the daily bread-and-butter of live mixing. Equally important, we were determined
to avoid the shortcomings of less-experienced operators. |
To
take a few examples, we provided: • A Broadcast Desk. Not a mixer designed primarily for track-laying or (worse still) for PA. Its assignable VCA fader groups are ideal for sensitive music balance and allow rapid reactions during speech programmes • Accurate Loudspeaker Monitoring. Theory demands a precise equilateral triangle for stereo listening. We give the balancer just that … in symmetrical acoustics whose boundaries are contoured to reduce standing waves. To quote one visiting engineer… "Amongst the best I’ve heard" • Standard Metering. No toys here, either. BBC programme meters give permanent A/B and M/S readings, with four additional PPMs to monitor prefade and sundry internal and external circuits |
